How to program a Roland MC-202

This time I'm showing you how to program a Roland MC-202. The tutorial only covers the most basic features but should be enough to get anyone struggling to a good start. In the future I'll do a follow up video showing some of the more advanced features.

  1. Hello mate. I really enjoyed the tutorial.
Living in Japan, I can pick one of these up relatively cheap and I'm quite interested in doing so.
I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. How easy is it to sync one of those to midi? Secondly, can you program rests in the sequencer, so you can give things a different feel?

    Cheers.

  2. to sync to midi something like the doepfer msy2 works great, or you can try some of the various software alternatives such as volta/silent way etc. You can program rests, staccato, non legato, legato or tie notes. Its actually very flexible in that regards if you are willing to learn the sequencer in depth.

  4. Really useful, as I've just got a Dark Energy and want to hook it up to a 202. It's been a while since I sequenced on one but I do now remember that I always, always forget to set the step length when making edits. So that's something to look forward to.

Have following question - Is it possible putting into sequence empty step?

    Best!
